Fresh and Local Food to Combat Hunger

Organizer  |  Chicago High School of Agricultural Science
Subjects Covered  |  Donation Gardening, Education, Food Access, Nutrition
Target Audience  |  Students, Educators, Directors of Youth Programs

Students at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences have learned how to leverage fresh products from their school farm to address hunger in their local community. When visiting, students will explain how they individually tied agricultural classroom curriculum to actionable steps in their areas of influence.

Attendees will be able to transfer what they learned in the classroom to “hands-on” engagement opportunities. Agricultural education topics that are discussed are foundations that can spur students into addressing social problems such as local hunger and food insecurity.
