Racial Equity and Inclusivity Webinar

02/21/2019 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Sign up today for a peer to peer webinar on Thursday, February 21 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The topic is “Racial Equity and Inclusivity.” Our featured speaker is Tes Thraves, Farm to School Coordinator, Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) at North Carolina State University.

Local Foods Program staff Chelsea Krist, Caitlin Szymanski, and Carrie Chennault will form the rest of the panel.

Join a participant-based discussion on challenges and strategies for how we and our organizations can and must address racial equity in our day to day work. How do we also learn from and support each other to address racial equity on a cultural level for true system change?

When you register, you will also have a chance to suggest topics for discussion. Please take that opportunity to provide input for our speakers.

More about Tes

Tes began working with CEFS in 2007 on community food efforts in eastern NC and a statewide farm to fork initiative. Her work currently focuses on farm to school (including early childhood) and racial equity in food systems.

For seven years, Tes cohosted FoodCorps NC with her partner in mischief-making from NC 4-H, Liz Driscoll. Tes founded CEFS’s Food Youth Initiative, in partnership with multiple statewide and local organizations, to support youth leadership in NC, especially those coming from communities most adversely impacted by system inequities.

She is also one of the many founders of the Farm to School Coalition of NC and serves on its steering committee. She is a member of the Farm to Preschool Network, and is the North Carolina core partner for the National Farm to School Network.
