Description: ISU Extension & Outreach Nutrition Programs help Iowans with limited financial resources develop the knowledge, skills, and habits needed to make healthy food choices on a tight budget. Families learn how to choose healthy foods, prepare tasty meals and stretch their budget through meal planning and savvy shopping. Through the Kids in the Kitchen youth nutrition education program, children have fun and learn about healthy foods through hands-on cooking classes. These ISU Extension and Outreach nutrition programs include projects funded by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed). Together, those programs provide nutrition education and healthy food access programs in more than 20 counties. How to Help: Iowans who are interested in supporting the work of ISU Extension & Outreach Nutrition Programs should contact Ms. Hradek to find out which programs are active in their county. Individuals and families who wish to find out more about the nutrition education resources offered in their area should contact them online. Click here to flag this profile as needing attention. |
