Chris Conetzkey is the publisher and executive editor of the Des Moines Business Record, a locally-owned business to business media organization that publishes a weekly magazine as well as a variety of digital products featuring local business news. After a one-year stint as a reporter for the Business Record, he moved to Florida to be an assistant editor for ESPN managing the website and social media efforts for College GameDay. Chris returned to Des Moines in May 2011 to take on the role as editor for the Business Record, and was promoted to publisher in January 2017. He is originally from the Chicago suburbs and graduated from Iowa State University in 2009 with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communications. He currently serves on the advisory board for the Iowa State University Greenlee School of Journalism, Iowa Newspaper Foundation and the Area Association of Business Publications. In addition, he serves on the publication board for the Iowa State Daily, at which during college he was a sports reporter, sports editor and finally Editor in Chief during the 2008-09 school year. The Business Record along with sister publication dsm Magazine, is currently engaged in Iowa Stops Hunger, a year-long initiative to help raise sustained awareness around food insecurity.
