Description: The Community Kitchen works to alleviate hunger in Cerro Gordo County and surrounding communities with our Free Meal Program, providing freshly prepared meals to people in need. We serve a free lunch 6 days and an evening meal 4 nights every week, with dine-in and carryout available for all meal services. There is no means testing for our services, and a free meal is provided to all who come to us in need. Volunteer Opportunities: Kitchen volunteers: help prepare and serve meals for lunch or evening service. Food rescue: drive organization van to various grocers and restaurants to pick up food donations, return to meal site, and unload while we weigh food - lifting required from 20 lbs. (frequently) up to 50 lbs. (occasionally) per box, and from 300 lbs. up to 2,000 total lbs. of food picked up per shift. Newsletter: N/A |
