Description:

Iowa Gardening for Good is a 501c3 that focuses on involving people in growing things of value for a good cause. This project has been operating for 5 years and has organized a number of projects striving to involve more people in agricultural production and trying to link them to various types of service projects. Currently, their largest project is growing vegetables and donating them to the food pantries.

In 2018, over 1,200 volunteers participated in growing over 180,000 lbs that was donated to food pantries.  We rely on a wide range of volunteers to help ranging from schools to corporate volunteers. Typically we have 2-3 groups a week come and help plant or pick produce. How to Help: The primary labor source is volunteers of all ages. Throughout the growing season, dates are available for volunteers to come help plant, tie up plants or pick produce.

How to Help:

Because we donate everything we grow, we are dependent upon financial donations. Our goal is to produce 5 pounds of produce for every dollar we receive. To learn more on how to donate financially see our website at www.iowagardeningforgood.com/donation. Iowans are encouraged to contact the Blackmer family contact the Blackmer family for more information or to help volunteer.
