Description:

The Iowa 4-H Youth Development Program offers research-based educational experiences for K-12 youth that empower youth to skills necessary to fight hunger locally and globally.

4-H Healthy Living programs work to engage youth through hands-on experiences that connect to their lives and respond to their interests. 4-H programs grow interest in health and wellness by empowering youth to fuel their bodies, challenge their habits, and enhance their mindset to make healthy decisions. These skills enable young people to set goals, transform their lifestyle choices and become leaders in their life, their communities, and their future career. Healthy Living educational opportunities can be found here: https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/healthy-living

The Gardening to Give programs provides monthly, hands-on, research-based activities and learning opportunities focused on gardening and growing, designed for all ages and abilities. By working together across the state to grow gardens, we can not only provide food for our loved ones, but we can donate our harvest to food pantries while engaging in the gardening experience. We are working across Extension to share information and learning opportunities for all of Iowa, and Gardening to Give is the youth-focused program for this opportunity. https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/gardening-to-give

Global Citizenship programs in 4-H involve people of all ages understanding the world around us and our place in it. Global Citizenship requires working to develop and share understanding with others so that they can be responsible and knowledgeable global citizens. Appreciation for all cultures, including one’s own as well as a desire to learn and explore issues affecting societies, agriculture, environment, and resources around the globe, are key components that make up Global Citizenship. https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/global-citizenship
