Phone: (800) 532-3213 Description: Mission: The Iowa Department on Aging will provide resources, tools, and support to enable Iowa Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to effectively deliver core services—Information & Service Assistance, Nutrition & Health Promotions, and Services to Promote Independence—to our consumers. Vision: Iowa Department on Aging supports accessible, integrated services to older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers to assist them in maintaining their independence, dignity, autonomy, health, safety, and economic well-being. Nutrition and Wellness Programs are available to Iowans aged 60 or older, a spouse of any age, and any individual with a disability under age 60 who resides in a housing facility primarily occupied by older adults where congregate meals are served. These meals can help older Iowans and Iowans with disabilities live healthier lives through balanced nutrition How to Help: Iowans interested in supporting the work of the Iowa Department of Aging should contact them directly about opportunities to volunteer, which arise frequently throughout the state.
