Description: Adorned with hair nets and armed with plastic scoops, The Outreach Program brings volunteers together to help fight food insecurity. School groups and scout troops, local non-profits and churches, Rotary clubs and United Ways give their time to fill food pantries in Iowa and feed hungry people around the world. The Outreach Program provides everything needed to host a meal packing event, from the fund-raising materials to the tape to seal the boxes of packaged meals. Volunteers form an assembly line, scooping and measuring ingredients into packages that are distributed without cost to local food banks and other organizations of the group's choice. Since The Outreach Program's inception in 2004, these volunteer-driven events have provided more than 440 million meals packaged to date. Creating and securing sources of clean, potable water is a priority of The Outreach Program. Availability of unpolluted, disease-free water is essential to health and life. Outreach Africa supplies medical care, water, food and education to the people of Tanzania. Please email for more information. How to Help: Volunteer in The Outreach Program warehouse. There are always dishes to wash, trucks to load, supplies to sort and meal supplies to pack. Plan a meal packing event to decrease food insecurity. Contact The Outreach Program for assistance!
