Souper Bowl of Caring
The Northeast Iowa Food Bank plans to tackle hunger with the Souper Bowl of Caring for 2015. Souper Bowl of Caring is a national movement that works to mobilize those looking to fight hunger and poverty in their own communities around the time of the Super Bowl football game.
The goal is for church congregations and other groups to begin taking a collection on the weeks leading up to Super Bowl Sunday, February 1st. Participating groups will be asking for monetary donations or donations of food. They give 100% of their donation directly to the local hunger-relief charity of their choice. Donations collected in the Cedar Valley can go to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
Started by a youth group in 1990, Souper Bowl of Caring has since grown all over the world. For more information and to register your group, please visit www.souperbowl.org or call 1-800-358-SOUP (7687). Then, simply collect donations on or near February 1st and deliver those donations to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
