Iowa Hunger Calendar
Souper Bowl of Caring
In the weeks leading up to Super Bowl Sunday and in conjunction with MLK Day, Davenport Volunteer Connection and the RSVP of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois are coordinating donations to benefit Kings Harvest Ministries in the Quad Cities. The big kick-off for this drive is happening on January 19 beginning at 10:30 at the United Neighbors Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration. They will be asking members of the community to donate at least one dollar to purchase food for people in need. 100% of donations will benefit Kings Harvest.
Leading up to Super Bowl Sunday, a soup pot where donations can be left will be placed United Neighbors and will benefit Kings Harvest. They are encouraging the donation of money, rather than canned food, because the pantries can purchase needed items from food banks for pennies on the dollar. Monetary donations will go much further in the fight against hunger and poverty. Checks should be made out to Kings Harvest Ministries.
The collection will run January 19th to Super Bowl Sunday - February 1st.
