Description: Established in February of 2014, “Up from the Earth” is a voluntary system for connecting excess produce from home gardens to people in need. The program encourages home gardeners to “grow an extra row” and facilitates the gathering and distribution of excess fruits and veggies to those in need through existing food pantries. After six seasons UFTE has collected and distributed over 130,000 pounds or 390,000 servings of fresh veggies and fruit.
