Description: HACAP Food Reservoir is a Feeding America food bank serving seven counties in East Central Iowa. The Food Reservoir is part of the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP), a non-profit community action agency providing programs and services that help people develop skills to become successful and builds strong communities. The HACAP Food Reservoir distributes more than 9 million pounds of food annually to over 150 partner agencies to feed the hungry. In addition to distributing food to our non-profit partners, the HACAP Food Reservoir administers a robust food rescue program and implements initiatives that provide food for seniors, children and anyone that is experiencing food insecurity. How to Help: Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks, including running special events, checking in food donations, packing food boxes, and transporting food to local partners. Drivers and volunteers to assist with data collection are especially needed. People interested in volunteering should contact Chris Ackman at 319-739-1505. Donations of money and food are also welcome. Financial donations help cover operating costs and purchase food - each dollar donated purchases approximately six meals. Food donations are an important source of food for the Food Reservoir, and volunteers are always welcome to organize a food drive. People interested in volunteering should visit the HACAP web site at www.hacap.org. Click here to flag this profile as needing attention. |
