Description: The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is an interfaith organization with over 125 member congregations of five faith traditions working together to meeting basic human needs in the greater Des Moines community. The DMARC Food Pantry Network works with 14 partner pantries and 20 Mobile Food Pantry sites to serve ~17,500 individuals every month. DMARC also operates the Red Barrel program in local grocery stores. How to Help: Iowans can support the Des Moines Area Religious Council by making a donation or by signing up to volunteer. Groups of four or more people can work together to sponsor a “Sack Saturday” event at a Des Moines area grocery store, where they inform and encourage shoppers to donate a food item to the Red Barrel Program.
