Lendie Follett

Associate Professor of Business Analytics, Drake University

Lendie Follett is an Associate Professor of Business Analytics and chair of the department of Actuarial Science, Information Management, and Business Analytics at Drake University. Dr. Follett received a PhD in Statistics from Iowa State University. Her research primarily focuses on food insecurity; she has co-authored several papers related to hunger and food policy, including “Hunger relief: A natural experiment from additional SNAP benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic” (2022, The Lancet Regional Health–Americas). She joined the board of directors of the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) in 2023 and currently serves as board president. Recently, Lendie joined the board of JustGive, a non-profit with the goal of alleviating global poverty. JustGive is based on a unique approach that aims to give people in need a genuine voice in poverty-alleviation efforts. Not only do people in need know their lives best, but they also have a right to be heard. JustGive is currently working on its first project – the Iowa Food Security Forum – which aims to solicit the opinions of food insecure Iowan on how to combat food insecurity in the state.
