Description:

The Palo Alto County Outreach Center builds stronger communities by addressing the effects of poverty on individuals and families in Palo Alto County. Their programs and services include weatherization assistance and supplemental help for winter heating bills, a partnership with Elderbridge Agency on Aging to assist eligible applicants age 60 and over with chores, an emergency food pantry and food shelf to assist eligible families with food, and client advocacy and referral services. They also provide an online directory of resources in Palo Alto County.

The Palo Alto County Outreach Center is affiliated with Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc.

Iowans can support the work of the Palo Alto County Outreach Center by volunteering, raising awareness, and making in-kind or monetary donations. Volunteer opportunities include advocacy, direct interaction with families, support for special events and projects, and working alongside staff at the food pantry. Iowans are encouraged to contact them directly for more information about volunteering and donations, or to invite a representative of the center to visit their church or community group.
