Description: Students and educators at Interstate 35 Secondary School work to alleviate hunger through educational and service-learning projects. The FFA has supported Meals for the Heartland periodically since 2009, packaging as many as 15,000 meals in a year. I-35 Middle School Science classes, with the Third and Fourth Grades, have grown a school kitchen garden for 6 years with all food going to school kitchen. The I-35 High School FCS program runs a food pantry for students and families, and the "Sack O' Food for Me" program of weekly food distribution. The I-35 Middle School provides a Backpack Food program weekly and over long breaks. Our goals is to ensure every child regardless of income has food to eat at home! A full belly equals a mind full of power! How to Help: Iowans are encouraged to contact Mrs. Sue Meggers for more information and to explore opportunities to work together.
