Description:

United Ways of Iowa is a membership association of local United Ways serving the state of Iowa. Their efforts focus on supporting the outstanding work of local United Ways across the state, and working as a network to further build upon their collective impact in Iowa. Iowa United Ways’ work focuses on improving the education, income, and health of communities across Iowa.

In addition to supporting local United Ways, United Ways of Iowa releases the biennial United Way ALICE Report for Iowa. This is a study of the one-third of Iowa households who are Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed – those who are working, earning and paying taxes and still struggling to meet a basic needs budget in the county in which they live.

How to Help:

United Ways and their community partners across Iowa have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. United Ways of Iowa invites Iowans to learn more about volunteer opportunities through their local United Way, find volunteer opportunities statewide through Volunteer Iowa, the website for the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, or become engaged in advocacy through their public policy website. Contact them directly for more information.
