Description:

Many Hands believes we are called to transform together, to be love in action, in our broken world. Through a comprehensive strategy, they aim to ignite generosity, grow community, and take people on IMPACT journeys to carve a new, better path to live in right relationships with God and others. They are one of nineteen Iowa non-profits that are Better Business Bureau certified, providing high levels of transparency and accountability.

Ignite Generosity Engines

In the U.S., Many Hands operates three large thrift stores, located in Spencer, IA, Clive, IA, and Grimes, IA. These stores act as the engine that drives generosity locally and globally, creating operational funding for local and global missions. This includes over $40,000 given back to local non-profits to address a variety of social issues, including childhood hunger.

Through these stores, and the rest of the organization, Many Hands focuses on engaging with supporters, donors, and partners to create an engaged community focused on giving generously of themselves and their resources.

Grow Community

Many Hands works to create long-term sustainable change, strengthening families to transform Haitian communities. To accomplish this end goal, they focus on solutions in Education, Leadership Development, Food and Agriculture, Safe Homes, Medical Assistance, and Economic Development, reaching out to 30,000 people in the area of Pignon, Haiti.

Each year, Many Hands provides 1.5 million meals through their food and agricultural programs, supplying over 7.5 million meals in Haiti since 2011. These meals are supplied through short-term solutions, such as school feeding programs for 19 schools, and long-term solutions.

In 2017, Many Hands introduced their Love in Action initiative, a holistic program to walk with families for six years to Rebuild, Restore, and Renew. The Rebuild stage focuses on the first 1,000 days of a baby’s life, providing the necessary nutrition, health checks, and parent education. In the Restore stage, the focus is on the cognitive development of the child, now 3-5 years old, and developing a path to sustainability for the parents. At the end of this stage, every parent should be able to pay for their child’s education, read and write, and be able to provide some income for their family. In the Renew stage, the focus is on the multiplication of learning within the community, providing programming to transform a community.

In the next decade, Many Hands will expand its physical presence by planting new Love in Action equipping centers, growing reciprocal relationships to rebuild, restore, and renew broken communities. With intentionality, they will strengthen families, particularly women and children. Within a five-kilometer area, they will pour resources through weekly relationships into 2,000 children and caretakers.

IMPACT Journey

Many Hands engages teams and individuals through IMPACT Journeys. Providing disruptive, flashpoint local and global experiences, Many Hands leads people as they uncover their God-given purpose through service and action. Individuals can travel to Haiti, or domestic locations in the US, to encounter others and engage with purpose, further equipping them for their future, wherever they are called.
