Description: In February 2013, the Clay Central Everly FFA chapter established the "Mavpack" backpack program in their school district. Mavpacks are named after the district's mascot and are distributed every Friday to students in Preschool through 12th grade. Mavpacks contain 2 breakfast items, 2 snacks, and 2 lunches to help get hungry students through the weekend. Mavpacks are packed each week by FFA members and are distributed by the guidance counselor to ensure confidentiality. In the 2018-19 school year there were 59students enrolled in the Mavpack program. This was nearly 20% of the total district enrollment. This program is funded entirely on community and church donations and grants. How to Help: Iowans can support the work of the Clay Central Everly FFA Chapter by purchasing non-perishable food items or by sending cash donations to the Mavpack program.
