Iowa Nutrition Network: INN Summer Virtual Partnership Meeting
Please join the INN Partnership for a virtual learning opportunity to better understand social determinants of health, identify the connections to data and disparities and how to connect all of this to policy impacting your work.
Speakers:
Dr. Nalo Johnson
Dr. Johnson is the Director for the Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention, Iowa Department of Public Health. She will discuss the concepts of health equity and the social determinants of health, highlighting the importance of data collection and policy creation to address health disparities within vulnerable populations.
Deja Knight, MA, MPH
Ms. Knight will discuss key tenets of the concepts of food insecurity and food justice, make connections between food insecurity, health inequalities and the social determinants of health, as well as review policy recommendations to address food insecurity. Additionally, her presentation will highlight the impacts of COVID-19 on issues of food insecurity within communities.
