THE IOWA HUNGER SUMMIT is held each year during the World Food Prize's week of events in October at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. It kicks off the events, preceding the Norman E. Borlaug International Symposium, also known as the Borlaug Dialogue.
The Iowa Hunger Summit gathers several hundred leaders from across Iowa representing community organizations, business and industry, state and local government, social agencies, churches and religious communities, schools and universities, and other groups that lead or participate in projects to confront hunger.
Featured speakers at past Hunger Summits include: former Secretaries of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, Dan Glickman, Ann Veneman, Mike Johanns, and Ed Schafer; Diana Aviv, CEO of Feeding America; Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, the founder of Mary's Meals; Howard G. Buffet; and Roger Thurow, the author of "The First 1000 Days."
We invite you to participate in this unique Iowa event and learn more about domestic and international hunger and food insecurity. This event is free and open to the public.
The 2018 Iowa Hunger Summit will take place at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown on Monday, October 15, 2018. Check back next summer for further registration details regarding the 2018 Iowa Hunger Summit!
