Women Advancing Africa: A Conversation with Sister Marie Nakitende Sister Marie Nakitende is very much a "hands on" development voice. She has done many things, and now is working with youth that, due to poverty and lack of hope for a future, have dropped out of school. She works to get them back in school and teach them entrepreneurial skills to give them a shot at a better life. She will speak to the cultural issues in Eastern Africa that keep women from developing their full potential, and/or about programs there to combat hunger, including the CRS Farmer to Farmer Program, which gives Iowans something they can do to use their skills to advance development in Eastern Africa. |
