SUMMARY
4.9 million seniors are currently food insecure in the U.S.  The panel delves into food insecurity for Iowans aged 60+ and the programs that address this. Learn about exciting innovations in congregate meal programs across the state and leveraging community resources and partnerships through the Iowa Senior Hunger Partnership. 


ACTION ITEMS
Participants will be made aware of the different challenges seniors face for food security, the importance of focusing on seniors for an aging population, and the various programs in Iowa that address this. Participants will learn how to increase outreach to seniors through innovative meal programs, how to leverage partnerships to address food insecurity in seniors, learn about the policies that affect Senior hunger and how to make their legislators aware. Information on how to get involved in Senior Hunger through volunteer programming will also be discussed.
