The Hunger Summit will gather several hundred leaders from across Iowa representing community organizations, business and industry, state and local government, social agencies, churches and religious communities, schools and universities, and other groups that lead or participate in projects to confront hunger. The Hunger Summit events will also build on the foundation of projects and partnerships with the The World Food Prize,Iowa State University Extension, the ONE campaign, the Alliance to End Hunger, America’s Second Harvest, Bread for the World, MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, the Better Safer World campaign, and numerous Iowa organizations. The goal of the World Food Prize is to hold “the most significant observance of World Food Day anywhere around the globe.” The Iowa Hunger Summit presents a major step toward increasing awareness among Iowans of the most relevant, cutting-edge, and urgent topics relating to food and hunger in the world.
